JACQUI DUNBAR
Creative Explorer, Scotland
Mandala Days was my fourth year of working with the Mandala. I consider myself as an emerging artist, one who has been privileged to travel in the exploration of the Mandala alongside the creator of this programme – Julie Gibbons.
The theme for my work this year was “developing as an Artist through my exploration of colour palettes, patterns and textures inspired by nature.” Whether in the hills, by the sea, immersed in a wild woodland or discovering a new city by foot, being outdoors is as important as breathing to me.
Bright block colours feature heavily in this body of work, however I created a number of black and white pieces (these are not exhibited) which focused more on pattern and texture.
As a photographer who spends time creating images with strong dynamic range, I have enjoyed the process of working in flat colour.
