I’m turning 50 years old this weekend, which is in many ways a surprise and in others not so much.

Someone on Twitter recently posted that having been born in 1970, their marker for dates was the year 2000, therefore 1990 was ten years ago and 1985, fifteen…

This is exactly how I feel : adding another 20 years on to those timescales feels inordinately out of whack!

Then again … there is much that has changed since the year 2000.

In terms of major life events, it does feel like 20 years … so many friends loved and lost, a separation, a marriage, a change of career, a child grown into adulthood, the death of my mother.

There is much to ponder, if I were to be inclined so.

In these COVID times my celebrations will not look like I might have imagined.

It happened when I turned 40 as well. The morning of my 40th a massive snowfall dumped itself onto Scotland and pretty much halted everything in its tracks.

Still, in COVID times, I have much to be thankful for, especially when it comes to my business …

There is a beautiful circle forming around the Mandala Magic : ALIGNMENT program and this weekend, I’m offering a prize draw giveaway to celebrate.

Each member who joins ALIGNMENT from now until 2nd Dec will be entered into a prize draw to win the following prize worth £250:

  • Mandala Magic : ALIGNMENT 2020/21 membership (fee refunded)
  • £50/$50 Amazon e-voucher (to buy supplies!)

I’d usually offer a wee parcel of art supplies by post but due to COVID restrictions have opted for an Amazon voucher instead. That way, if you win, you can choose your own supplies!

The closing date for entry is 2nd December, so now is definitely a good weekend to join us if you’ve been considering it.

UPDATE 3rd DEC : The prize draw is now closed and the winner is Lis Brodie (email has been sent.)

You can find out more about ALIGNMENT and sign up here. The classroom opens on 7th December.

In celebration of my 50th I wanted to include a spread in my art journal that looked to this marker, so …

I prepared a poem and have shared it in a wee video to accompany a flip-through of my completed journal. (You’ll see the poem spread at the end of the flip through.)

It’s under 5 minutes, so won’t take up too much time in your day.

Click here to head straight to the video : https://youtu.be/lwHjIqCgDn8

My hope is that the piece speaks to more folk than those who would work with Mandala Magic alone.

That poem – it’s for all of us!
