All of those sumptuous art studios shared on Instagram really fill me up with envy. I can’t help it – I covet such a space – an artfully beautiful room of my own.
Last week I expanded beyond my all purpose desk space at the end of the dining room …
Onto the dining room table.
It’s brilliant. Now I don’t have to clear away my desk to make room for art making – and back again.
It’s helping the creative flow, that’s for sure – and is making up for all of the technical issues we’ve been having lately.
Now all I have to do is make a new space for an alternative dining table!
So this has definitely been my peak of the week, but Tammy put together a much better post about art studio dreams. Artful elves, anyone?
I have to share our dining table with two other artists in the house so it has become the communal cutting/lightbox station. Although one end of it does hold my sewing machine so that pretty much declares that spot as MINE.
I would love to have a little studio/outbuilding set apart from the house. Kind of a place of one’s own. Like a CARAVAN, yes! that’s it!!
Enjoy your new found space!

Thanks Dawn – I’m looking forward to getting a little more organised – definitely need some new lighting – turns out the table is in the darkest spot of our whole house!
I’m glad you’ve managed to stake a claim on at least one end of the table. An art caravan sounds like just the ticket – here’s wishing it into reality for you! xo
I have to share my art table with a family who like to eat there….so frustrating! I have a tiny art desk in a nook in the kitchen but it only holds canvases and supplies. I create mainly at the dining room table.
We do tend to take over any space with our arting, hey Natasha? xo
