art journal : the journey

the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
which you slowly
recognised as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do the only thing you could do –
determined to save
the only life you could save

extract from The Journey by Mary Oliver

I’ve been art journaling something that happened to me recently. There was a whole, detailed analysis about it that I planned to post here. And then last night I read Mary Oliver’s poem The Journey, and I knew I didn’t need to publish what I’d written right now.
