What I learned from Etsy and Facebook

creative biz plan

I thought my new thing was all about creativity in the healing process, so a few months ago I called this website Julie Gibbons Creative Healing. (you see it up there, in my creative biz plan?).

I discovered last week that it isn’t. It isn’t just about healing. This is a wee story about how it happened (it was an almost instantaneous realisation. I wonder why I didn’t see it before?) Here goes …

I’m designing my Etsy shop (to sell inspirational postcards, greetings cards, journals and art prints – yay!) and I couldn’t fit the words Julie Gibbons + Creative Healing into the title. I ended up with JulieGibbonsCreates and I liked it.

Next, I was updating my Facebook Page with a custom URL and again, Julie Gibbons + Creative Healing was just too many words. It turned into JulieGibbonsCreative — you can click through and give me a Like there if you wish ;-).

And those two things immediately made complete sense – :: Creates :: for the place I sell what I make and :: Creative :: for a page that represents me.

Because this website also represents me, I opted for Julie Gibbons Creative here, too. I hope you like it?

You see, this creative process isn’t only for people who need healing – it’s also for those who;

  • have unanswered questions
  • want more out of life
  • feel a little stuck
  • need to find something new
  • wish to celebrate
  • want to create some more fun
  • wish to unleash anger/frustration
  • want to leave a legacy behind
  • work out a problem
  • conduct self inquiry
  • express themselves without inhibition
  • explore their relationships
  • nourish themselves
  • practice mindfulness
  • [insert your own reasons]

Of course! Of course, I hear you cry. Well, d’oh – sometimes it takes me a little while to cotton on. And sometimes in the most unexpected of ways.

p.s. I’m really excited about it, but the Etsy shop isn’t quite ready to open yet.  Be sure to sign up to the occasional newsletters to hear about special offers which might come your way ♥ The link is just below … thanks!

I love it when no more space actually makes more space :)

I think it’s a lot freer and freeing.

And, even if we all need to be healed, you might not think you do. I mean you might not seek out something that had that in the title.

I hope you will call the website whatever you want and change it often!

Me too, Joanna and yes, this thought about what is healing and how it means different things to different people did play its part.

Freeing/freedom – now that is a place from where it all hails.

This is great – I love it when the Universe helps us in unexpected ways. I was going to call my creative business Creative Healing (and I do have a facebook page called exactly that http://www.facebook.com/pages/Creative-Healing/145242102239994
But when I set up my blog/website they weren’t having any of it and I just used my name instead!
Love your biz plan too!

How cool! I just sent a Like your way :) The cool thing about using your name for your blog is that it can travel with you through time and space and all the changes that flow …
